pixies

good news! i've redone my ipod (partly) and we're getting a wee little girl bunny for monty, and then we're going to have BABY WABBITS! it's gonna be massiv. yeah i said it

i'm making a lace top at the mo, for offset, and it's got me thinking about more clothes i could shamble together. my ultimate favourite website for this is pixiemarket.com because they sell clothes for obscene amounts of cash, but generally you can actually make a not-too-bad copy for about a millionth of the price!

just because i'm looking for a nice but interesting way of having a jumper and these both kick aaaasssssss. the second is a whole lot easier but i prefer the first. maybe if you did the second but instead of chiffon had knitted drapey bits? i think that'd look niceerrrr!

the tights are like a drool fest on a platter, even though you can barely see them. the dress is nice too, not too hard and pretty schmexy.

just a generally cool pattern for the front of anything in general.

nicer with different studs, but a pretty cool skirt. not worth $100+ though!

R.I.P.

i have nothing better to do than sit on my bed, wobble my bob and breathe in my new (and verrrry nice) incense deeply so i thought i'd write another blog post, just because i'm nice like that. yesterday one of my rabbits died :(. of course it's pretty impolite to have favourites, but he was my favvy simply because he seemed to like me more, and nibbled holes in all my jumpers in an annoying but very cute way. my sister was absolutely heartbroken, she raised them from babbies, when you could hold them in the palm of your hand (seriously, they were like pom-poms). RIP oscar, you'll be sorely missed. my ipod also got wiped, which actually made me cry. probably (definately) a bit (very) sad, but i spent months on that thing, and i don't even have half the music that was on it anymore. when you spend a whole day putting each song with the correct album, year and album cover your ipod being wiped is enough to make you want to smash chairs on people's heads. i was not a happy bunny, then again neither was any of the family :( so much for me being the next thatcher, thanks seb.

i've been reading this lovely little blog called deerlings (& ghostthings) (check the blogs bar <-). not only does the author write the sweetest little posts, but she also takes some stunning photographs. i picked two of my favourites............. i'm really into trees and bleary sunlight at the moment, and i've always wanted to do a film with wisps pf hair in front of it, as if the girl is watching from her actual eyes.

currently looking for a winter coat (not that i'll buy it, it may be cold but i refuse to accept the dip in temperatures until october) and this GORGEOUS collaboration between jil sander and uniqlo is just perfect perfect perfect, i want a sharp tailoured, dark wool coat and voila. and i'm addicted to jil sander so owning something designed by them would be simply the best.

OR i could opt for a cape (i love this idea) though it's probably not as practical. there's a lovely dark grey one in snoopers at the moment, i only wish it was time to buy such warming outerwear. at least if i got it now i could hang it on my wall and stare in love and adoration.

(i love rose petals. new additions to my extensive collection)

knit-cat

this is a rather impressive piece by graeme armour. i'm looking for a nice vintage argyle knit jumper to wear with leggings (a la knightcat), but maybe this all together more sci-fi knit would serve me much better. at least then i wouldn't need to invest in all together more interesting leggings than my way-too-big american apparel navy pair, or maybe i could tie-dye them. or both. anyway, to do this (if i do) i'd buy an oversized black knitted jumper, probably from primark, and then knit long black chains and recreate the odd weave on the front. so so so so so hot!!!

this eve i've been listening to alessi's ark's album, and OH MY GOD it is AMAZING, as in lie on your bed in a daze brilliant. when i heard of her (boasting time) there was no ark to her name, but she's the perfect sit-on-a-hill-at-dawn-with-a-comedown artist and to be honest she's the best thing to listen to ever, anytime anyplace. words cannot describe how much i love her right now. definately a better album than the xx and fleet foxes. she's a-m-a-z-i-n-g.

(one of the few songs which is better as a final than a demo)

(i nearly cried i loved that song so much, no joke it's THAT GOOD)

not so much better together

nothing like a wee bitty of jack johnson to soothe heartache. i'm off to cambridge for the weekend to relax, enjoy my family's company, feed chickens, skim stones on the lake (and do my maths work for college). and draw pictures from pop. have a nice weekendd...........

emilie79

suffering under a string-holding queen bee nazi. enjoying jack johnson though, we can relate.

i wrote the name of this photographer down on an envelope a while ago and just found the envelope and she takes very very lovely pictures! like little snaps you'd find in snoopers paradise for 25p, they're idyllic and kitsch and oh so pretty... (she's called emilie79 on flickr by the way - search and become a contact!)

portico quartet

so i got my results for my gcse's today and they were faaaaaaaaab! and i won this gorgeous dress on ebay and i've nearly finished a jumper i'm embellishing. i was having such a lovely day until i had an argument with my best friend... she's not annoyed at me anymore but i still really really am at her, though i'm too polite to bring it up. so that ruined my lunchtime well and proper

now though i'm listening to portico quartet's album on spotify (one of the best inventions ever) and it's AMAZZZZING. i saw them at loop and they blew my mind out of my ears it was honestly one of the best experiences of my musical life. you'd have to see them to understand, but the album is verrrrrrrrrrrry good. what i wouldn't do to have a lesson on how to play steel drums like that!

tilly!

the other day my best friend tilly came down from london for the first time in ages! we had a lovely time in town fooling around, doing tai chi in preston, going to yo sushi, halving cupcakes to share with flyers and pretending we were bats in capes in dirty harry. sadly she's gone home now, worst luck! but hopefully we'll meet up soon and go to carnaby street and brick lane and have another lovely time!

(i was showing my tai chi skills)

watched some of the virgin suicides the other day, i knew all the music thanks to growing up with air... LOVE IT

old tapes and fixing and style

click it to see it big and actually be able to read it, blogspot's picture hosting will give you bad eyesight.

i actually forgot to mention, but platform now have a style section, mainly featuring bella howard's photography. i helped her on a couple of her shoots while i was interning, she's very nice, if a wee bit boisterous! i would have mentioned this earlier but i rarely go on platform anymore since they have a bad case of 90s obsession, only they don't get away with it like vice do. oh sam wolfson, why did you have to leave! it was so much better before wolfy went away :(

i've been rediscovering old nme mixtapes, like the transgressive cd. i loved those songs so bad! thankfully they're all back on my ipod now, "poor boy, poor boy, what have you done..."

and of course not forgetting modular's, the first introduction i had to mstrkrft. (their album is immense by the way, absolutely brilliant)

sadly (very sadly) they don't have any videos for van she's sex city (a BRILLIANT BRILLIANT SONG) so here's kelly instead. check out sex city if you can. youtube, you've failed me :(

wed nes day

h&m

* scans from this shoot i loved in h&m's magazine - i loved the whole layering and warm stuff and socks and i can't wait for winter, it's totally my favourite season along with autumn *

twinkle's best bits of the asos august mag

yesterday my first lil asos catalogue/mag arrived in the post. now i'm a bonafied fashion magazine addict, but since i got a conscience/lost my balls and stopped stealing them from borders and i-d decided to cut my subscription 6 months short (NOT HAPPY ABOUT THAT I-D - next time i'm choosing wired.) i haven't had a new one in a while, so i'm resorting to freebies, like vice and h&m's one. not as interesting, but the clothes in them tend to be a lot cheaper. anyway i scanned some things i liked out of the mag so here we are. like a twinkle's best bits of the asos august mag.

i love her! she's so pretty and fun!

nice idea for a jumper or just another dress. and it's prettttyyy :)

could make could make WILL make some time soon....

the model pisses me off but i love the layering lacey stuff. i wish i could afford it! even though it's only like 10 pounds i am ridiculously out of pocket at the moment

i am sososososososo doing that eyeliner sometime. it's GORGEOUS

not a fan of the model, but i like the pattern on the dress and you could do that with ribbon no problem

i really really really loved their whole shoot called 'rudegirl' or something. i HATE the name but the whole clashing patterns is something i'm really into at the mo, and it all just looks so nice! for more stuffies on clashing conscientously check out stylebubble.typepad.com. susie lau is like, my IDOL i love her!

verdens storste land

i was so theeeeere - casiokids at loop festival (it was so good, seriously) when i was in portugal pretty much one of the only things i listened to was their single verdens storste land, which means the biggest country or something and is a song about love, not that i'd know because it's in swedish, or danish or something. anyway it is an AMAZING SONG as in MINDBLOWING as in THE BEST THING YOU WILL EVER HEAR I SALIVATE JUST THINKING ABOUT IT'S REALMS OF FANTASTICNESS. err, so yeah, damn good stuff, the only song i don't mind having 2 of on my ipod just because it means it's more likely to come up on shuffle (and i am a total stickler with my ipod). but then again, they gave us fot i hose (in an earlier post, check it out) as the b-side so what do you expeccccccct!

now earlier i went back onto one of my old blogs to find out the url of this music site (deezer.com, don't let me forget that) and stumbled across the blogs list. i use these blogs lists and favourite lists away from home, so it has alll the stuff i used to love (and still do) and one of these links is the flickr of this guy known (to me) as 'no.223' and he takes some really nice/weird photo's. i love him and his nice-to-slightly-twisted photography so you should too. maybe.

jak and jil

recently i've been very into reading style bubble (i say reading, i more mean dissecting and staring at for hours on end in a slightly stalkerish manner - susie lau is my latest idol) and it's got me thinking - why do i never WRITE anymore?! i know this blog isn't really a blog because i am the sole benefactor of any posts and obviously i don't need an rss feed to know what i'm posting, but maybe if someone stumbled across it one day through some bizarre spelling mistake, i could at least be polite enough to give them something nice to read while they wait for the actual blog they wanted to load. why, i could be the online version of the metro you pick up on the bus and flick through. seriously attractive heights to aspire to...

off from the moan i found this blog called jak and jil. it's lovely - the man just takes photos of people's shoes! it's like a streetpeeper for footwear (and all the shoes are mega hot too) what i wouldn't do for those turquoise roped heels...

easy as abc

beautiful house of holland tights, AND FOR ONLY 10 QUID. i will be getting a wedge in on some of those babbies, make no mistake. sadly though i think it's only his crayon style deals that come in coffee cups. would have looking nice next to my china swan :( the shoes wouldn't go amiss too actually. they'd look hot on of course but i'd be happy staring at their abject beauty. i'm such a sucker for a pointy pixie toe

gowns and clowns

dresses by marit fujiwaro, i picked up the images for possible textiles work for college. i don't want to let such beautiful pieces pass!

pictures for girls, this band (the two boys at the front) i should probably check them out but am far too busy eyeing up the femmes in the background - what i would do to look like some of them (probably not that much in hindsight). the long haired boy isn't too bad a picture but to be honest i saved this because i just liked the real girls in the background... (L)

today i've been listening tooooo:

i saw him at the pressure point (old bar now shut :( ) last year some time. he was good, but not drop-your-hat-and-give-yourself-blisters-amazing like this song is! my friend had the flu at the time too, so we didn't exactly do much boogeying to his scottish tones. maybe next time.

the xx, obviously. their album is SO SO SO GOOD!

xxxxxxxxxx

high time for tights

eyeing up eley kishimoto's clothes. i really, really wish i could spend 71 pounds on tights, and that blue coat wouldn't go amiss too! tilly know's the son and daughter of said designer, i am SO jealous were i her i'd be the worst friend in the world, sitting at their kitchen counter the morning after dropping serious tight-related hints over cheerios...

on another shopping note, colours seem to be hitting me in the gullet and drawing back my purse strings (not that there's anything beyond the worn weaves)...
